Associate University Architect World Class Institution of Higher Education Location: Palo Alto, CA Description:
One of the world’s leading educational institutions has already established itself as an owner who seeks the highest quality design. Helping to oversee the selection and execution of the design of buildings of all types is the Office of the Campus Architect. The Campus Architect, who has been in his post for several years, has responsibility for both planning and design. He is currently seeking a deputy to assist with managing the entire operation as the University continues to expand in and around the Bay Area.
The Campus Architect is very proud of the department he has shaped, and candidly regards it as a well-oiled machine with high standards. The Associate would be a person who has a deep appreciation for good design, but who has probably gravitated toward the Project Management side of architecture. He or she must be articulate, politically savvy, have superior communication skills of all kinds, be able to assume leadership with a variety of constituencies both within and outside of the University and appreciate the sense of “higher purpose” that working for this institution provides its employees.
The Associate Campus architect must be a licensed architect with at least 12 years of experience. A background in design or management of higher education projects would be an advantage, as would a background working within a larger organization. Because the range of responsibilities is so great, it is important for the successful candidate to be able to maintain big picture perspective.
Our client is not predisposed to any one type of background (e.g. architectural firm vs. corporate real estate group, for example) and is very open to people with a diversity of experiences. To learn more and initiate a dialog in confidence, send your resume to karen@breuerconsulting.com.
