Space Planner California State University Monterey Bay Location: Seaside, CA Description:
1.Plans, prepares layouts, compiles furniture and equipment lists for projects, manages procurement, and outsourced installation of new or existing systems furniture.Plans and manages moves that are either outsourced or performed by University movers.
2.Coordinates various on-campus services necessary for reconfigurations. Coordinates with university staff in preparing itemized furniture, and equipment lists. Coordinates and tracks assigned purchases, in conjunction with users and purchasing offices.
3.Maintains the on-campus Space database and the CSU system databases related to CSU, MontereyBay. Updates space data based on requirements of the Chancellor's Office.
4.Analyzes proposals and requests for space from all campus units. Coordinates and interacts with various campus offices and departments, offering assistance with proposals and requests for space.
5.Updates AutoCAD facility files and provides AutoCAD support to the department. Prepares presentation materials and maps using graphics and/or desktop publishing software. Coordinates and assists in system reporting requirements.
6.Performs other duties and special projects, as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
Working knowledge of the methods, practices and procedures of space management, facilities planning, interior design and architecture; standards for space planning and related capital programs; space and system furniture layout specifications; building code restrictions; spreadsheet and database management software programs; and institutional space planning.
Ability to: gather and analyze data, and make accurate projections using business mathematics and basic statistical techniques; reason logically, draw valid conclusions and make appropriate recommendations; participate in and contribute to group meetings, conferences, and interviews; present clear and concise information orally and in written reports; make independent decisions and exercise sound judgment; organize and plan work and projects including handling multiple priorities; respond quickly to dynamic situations and short deadlines; work with complex technical situations; investigate and analyze problems having broad administrative impact; apply independently a wide variety of policies and procedures where specific guidelines may not exist; establish and maintain professional and productive working relationships with all contacts and serve as a liaison for the organizational unit.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Equivalent to a bachelor's degree AND two (2) years experience in space planning, architectural programming, architecture/interior projects, or related field.A master's degree may substitute for up to one year of experience. Additional experience, which has demonstrated acquisition and successful application of the required knowledge, skills, and abilities, may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
SPECIALIZED SKILLS REQUIRED:
Valid California Class C Driver's License, or the ability to obtain a valid CDL Class C by the time of employment. Knowledge of AutoCAD 2006. Proficient in the use of personal computers including word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, and database software; and willingness to learn applications as needed. Demonstrated ability to address the essential functions associated with this position including the knowledge and abilities identified above.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in Architecture, or Interior Design. Knowledge of CAFM systems similar to FAMIS or ARCHIBUS/FIS/ARC-CAD, Maximus, etc.Additional two years related experience, preferably in a university or institutional setting or related graduate degree. Highly desirable: Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the CSUMB Vision Statement and the Core Values of applied, active, and project-based learning activities; interdisciplinarity; multicultural and global perspectives; technological sophistication; service learning; ethical reflection and practice; and collaboration. Experience working with a diverse and multicultural population and performing community services. Demonstrated technical literacy.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Office environment with standard equipment and tasks. Position requires working at a computer/video display terminal and desk for extended periods of time. Will require travel between campus offices and off-campus locations.
SALARYRANGE:
$3,245 - $5,193 per month. We also offer access to affordable campus housing and an attractive employee benefits package.
