The Office of Campus Planning and Facilities at BoiseStateUniversity seeks a Director of Capital Planning and Space Management.The Director will oversee all capital planning and space management functions for the university; provide strategic and operational level support for capital development initiatives; develop and oversee processes for establishment of project formulation, justification, budget, facility requirements integration, and development. The Director’s work will ensure that projects demonstrably address the critical strategic needs by understanding both technical facility issues and opportunities; will integrate knowledge of approved strategies and academic initiatives; and will be founded in an indepth understanding of the capital development process.The Director will also provide guidance and recommendations to senior leadership in establishing funding priorities.
BoiseStateUniversity is in the midst of an exciting period of rapid growth and development as a metropolitan research university in Idaho’s capital city.The University has embarked on a strategic direction that will result in significant changes to our campus and facilities over the next 10 years and seeks an individual with strong planning and leadership skills to serve in the position of Director, Capital Planning and Space Management to help implement this vision.Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Campus Planning & Facilities, this position is responsible for coordination of planning efforts for capital facilities, development, and supporting the implementation of the Campus Master Plan.

Duties and Responsibilities
Provide primary staff support to Associate Vice President for Campus Planning & Facilities (AVP) and Vice President for Finance & Administration on all capital planning and capital budget matters.Provide analytical support for all capital project development issues related to financial feasibility and programming; coordinate capital development activities with Office of Vice President for Student Affairs on student fee funded project proposals and with Provost Office on academic project proposals; manage all aspects of campus-wide space planning, programming, space management and funding requests.Supervise staff in analysis, justifications, and related documents for all capital project development; develop alternative solutions to space resource issues for action by AVP and other campus leaders.Develop and support processes and procedures for the efficient running of the major/minor capital improvement programs for the campus.Oversee and coordinate the required approval processes including SBOE, PBFAC, internal campus processes and required municipal zoning approvals.Oversee/direct the continuing improvement of University space inventory records.
Qualifications
Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in architecture, engineering, building science or planning is required; master’s degree in architecture, engineering, building science, planning or related field is preferred.A minimum of five years directly-related experience is required with demonstrated knowledge and abilities in principles and practice of educational facilities capital planning; knowledge of facilities systems and processes encompassing education facilities requirements; advanced analytical skills (quantitative and qualitative) related to space analysis and project definition and justification; advanced skills and experience in using a variety of software to develop, support and draw conclusions in capital project formulation and justification; excellent communication skills and ability to effectively communicate within a diverse university community; ability to understand and reconcile diverse points of view and constraints and develop appropriate consensus; demonstrated knowledge of supervisory principles, practices and techniques.
Salary and Benefits
