As the Associate Director you will manage staff responsible for the programming and planning of 650,000+ square feet of Cambridge R&D space. Manage the staff and budget for planning, design, specification and installation of systems furniture and facility signage. Directs staff responsible for the planning and coordination of relocations of office and lab personnel and equipment. Develop office and laboratory benchmarking metrics and maintains expertise in industry trends in R&D facilities and office design. Establishes and communicates space standards and utilization policy and strategy. Develops and implements database systems and procedures to gather and maintain headcount and other planning data and to forecast space needs. Responsible for real estate leasing strategy, execution and administration. Works with external community leaders and Wyeth Community Relations in support of public activities as required including planning board meetings and hearings. Responsible for site development activities including permitting, parking and traffic studies related to site planning. Responsible for effective project management and continuous improvement of project planning procedures and strategies. Provide leadership and supervision of goal setting, development plans, improvement opportunities, timely performance appraisals as well as coaching and mentoring of staff in the prioritization of activities in accordance with company values and GRF metrics, goals and objectives. Plan resources to accomplish forecasted workload for the group. Ensure a safe work environment by regular safety awareness efforts with the staff and assuring that primary protective equipment is worn in the laboratory and construction areas by the staff.
This position requires BS/BA in Engineering, Architecture, Business or related fields. Broad technical training, management sciences, space and master planning, business management are desired. Management skills and experience, organizational skills, written and verbal communication skills, computer skills, leadership ability required. Experience in master planning and space programming, supervising building maintenance; project management experience; experience with regulatory, safety compliance is desired. Ten years experience gained preferably in a pharmaceutical or hospital environment, with seven years in a management position or equivalent is preferred.
