RESPONSIBILITIES: The Cost Engineer is responsible for the preparation and analysis of cost reports and costing audits. Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures in construction.
DUTIES: The Cost Engineer will also be responsible for: - Performing the routine aspects of cost engineering assignments requiring knowledge and application of basic project controls principles. - Using prescribed methods, performs specific and limited portions of cost engineering assignments. - Setting up each assigned project in Prolog Manager. - Data entry of project specific budgets. - Data entry of all project specific contracts into Prolog Manager. - Data entry of all project specific potential change orders and change orders in Prolog Manager. - Data entry of all project specific Applications for Payment and invoices in Prolog Manager. - Verifying the proper coding of all subcontractor and supplier invoices for accounting purposes. - Assisting in the processing of subcontractor and vendor invoices, as required. - Data entry of all project specific internal labor, expenses and overhead costs into Prolog Manager. - Providing monthly project cost report to Project Controls Manager and Project Manager. - Reviewing Schedule of Values. - Reviewing project billings. - Attending pre-construction meetings and periodically attending progress meetings as required. - Auditing approved invoices to ensure payments do not exceed contract amounts.
GOALS: - Accurate and timely project setup in Prolog Manager. - Accurate and timely monthly cost reporting. - Accurate coding of all invoices. - Accurate data entry of all budgets, commitments and costs. - Accuracy and consistency of cost accounting between Prolog Manager and Corporate accounting system.
Experience Required: This position requires a Bachelor's degree and at least three (3) years of experience in construction cost engineering. Must have good organizational and communication (written and verbal) skills, along with computer skills and project management software (Prolog preferred).
