Instrumentation Engineer
The University of Virginia is pleased to invite candidates for the position of Instrumentation Engineer. This career opportunity is a vital position within the Facilities Management Department.This position supports the Energy & Utilities Department’s mission to provide sustainable, economic and reliable energy, utilities and recycling services to all University facilities.The individual will manage and provide strategic planning on instrumentation, metering and controls to ensure that they are state-of-the-art and meet measurement, monitoring and control goals of the University. Additionally, he or she will help insure that all new, renovated and existing facilities are well designed, commissioned and operated in accordance with the University sustainability goals as resolved by its Board of Visitors.
Successful candidates will have the ability to work both independently and within a team environment.Candidates must also possess the proven ability to lead teams and provide supervision to metering personnel, electronics technicians and controls vendors.

Qualifications
·Bachelor’s degree from an accredited College or University in engineering, computer science, math, physics or similar field requited.Licensure as a professional engineer or Engineer-In-Training preferred.
·Significant experience with meters, instrumentation, or HVAC/mechanical systems and related controls.
·Experience designing, constructing, or commissioning HVAC/mechanical systems and controls.
·Knowledge of metering, controls and instrumentation systems and ability to plan and implement strategic improvements to metering, controls and instrumentation systems.
·Knowledge of operations and maintenance of HVAC/mechanical systems or controls.
·Excellent organizational skills and written and oral communication skills is required.
·Knowledge of programming languages, especially relating to controls, is preferred.
