Responsible for the management of all facilities occupied by University Operations Services (UOS) staff. Coordinates space planning and supports all UOS departments with facilities programming to meet operational needs. Manages all aspects of energy management, maintenance, operations, security, space development, and lease agreements. Selects and oversees maintenance and operations service providers and prepares detailed specifications for services. Serves as the UOS project manager of all small to mid-size construction or renovation projects. Serves as a member of the UOS Emergency Management Team for logistical support. Responsible for the planning, construction, coordination and subsequent management of a new +300,000 gsf materials and life sciences building. Expertise in facility planning, building and organization experience; strong familiarity with cleanroom technology and infrastructural needs; highly innovative and strong problem solving skills. Evaluate and document existing instruments and infrastructure requirements in fabrication and characterization core facilities; thin film deposition, electrical characterization, photonics, biophotonics, and polymer synthesis, magnetic resonance imaging, life sciences, including EHS. Develop a plan for critical laboratory adjacencies and space requirements for core and faculty laboratories. Serve as a central point of contact between materials and life sciences community, PSU OPP and architectural firm in the design and construction of the building and management of once built. Coordinate writing proposals for equipment. Interface with equipment vendors from purchase to installation. Minimum educational and work-related experience requirements are: Bachelor's or Master's degree (preferred) in an Engineering or Science discipline plus 5-7 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

We are seeking an experienced professional with strong facility management and construction experience to be responsible for the maintenance of our beautiful 15,000 sq. ft. building. He/she must be comfortable overseeing the work of subcontractors in the building trades, performing basic repairs, handling routine maintenance and cleaning, and responding to emergencies and security issues. As part of a small and integrated staff team, this person also sets up for programs and events, including operating audio and/or video systems used by musicians and dancers. The working schedule requires some flexibility in hours during the week coupled with frequent weekend and event-related work. He/she is also the lead staff person on call for building related emergencies. The successful candidate will be highly knowledgeable about building systems and have very high standards for quality of construction, maintenance, and repairs. He/she will also enjoy working with people and supporting a diversity of arts and cultural programs, performances, and events. This position reports to the Director of Operations.
