ST. LOUIS, MO. - Washington University is initiating construction on the $235 million BJC Institute of Health at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. Housing the University’s BioMed 21 translational research initiative, the 70,000-sf, 11-story facility was funded in part by a $30 million donation from BJC Healthcare. Slated for completion in December of 2009, the facility will house five BioMed laboratories with support and two School of Medicine academic departments; half of the facility will be occupied by Barnes-Jewish Hospital at a cost of $121 million.
