LOWELL, MASS. - The University of Massachusetts, Lowell is planning to construct the $80 million Emerging Technologies and Innovation Center (ETIC). The site for the facility was selected in late fall of 2007, replacing an existing dormitory. The 97,000-sf center will house academic instruction, bio- and nanomanufacturing research and development, and incubator space. The sustainably designed facility is part of a campus expansion plan that includes new residence halls, two additional academic facilities, facilities for life sciences and medical device research, and a parking garage adjacent to ETIC.
