Cambridge University Builds Centre for Physics of Medicine

CAMBRIDGE, UK -
The University of Cambridge began construction in early summer of 2007 on the £12.5 million Centre for the Physics of Medicine. Designed by Building Design Partnership, the 2546 square meter, three-story facility will house research laboratories, teaching spaces, and offices. The project is sited adjacent to the existing Cavendish Laboratory Buildings and will accommodate multi-disciplinary research at the intersection of physics, biology, and medicine. The building will bring together researchers from the Departments of Biochemistry, Chemistry, Physics, Chemical Engineering, and the School of Clinical Medicine. The 13 month project is expected to reach completion in summer of 2008 and represents the first phase of a two phase project. The general contractor is Willmott Dixon.
