Montana State University Opens Animal Bioscience Complex

Montana State University-Bozeman has received $140,000 from the Montana Farm Bureau to fund the creation of the $34.5-million Animal Bioscience Complex. Combining a $22-million USDA-ARS research facility with a $12.5-million teaching and outreach facility, the complex will enable collaboration with the MSU College of Agriculture, the U.S. Meat Animal Research Facility at Clay Center, Neb., and USDA/ARS in Miles City in the exploration of functional bovine genetics. The project is in the early planning stages and is expected to house specialized classrooms and research laboratories for range science, animal physiology, and animal genetics, as well as multi-purpose advanced technology extension education spaces.
