BETHESDA, MD. - Walter Reed National Medical Center broke ground in July of 2008 on a $970 million replacement facility at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Md. Merging Army, Navy, and Air Force medical care, the 6.7 million-sf facility is slated for completion by 2011. Constructed adjacent to the Bethesda Naval Hospital, the treatment, research, and teaching facility will include a four-story inpatient building and a six-story outpatient building.
