Boston Scientific Begins Construction on Minnesota Science and Technology Center

Published 10/9/2023

Boston Scientific will begin construction in late 2023 on the $170 million Minnesota Science and Technology Center in Maple Grove, Minn. Offering sophisticated R&D labs and flexible office environments, the three-story, 400,000-sf structure will comprise two wings connected by a collaborative atrium. The amenity-rich facility will also include a conference center, support spaces, a fitness suite, and a cafeteria.

A prefinished metal wall will act as a screen for the air handling units and exhaust fans on the roof. The sustainably designed building will feature photovoltaic arrays, geothermal energy technologies, a stormwater filtration system, and a glass curtainwall that transmits ample natural light to the interior. Occupants will benefit from access to outdoor gathering areas surrounded by pollinator gardens.

Ryan Companies is the project developer with Perkins&Will providing architectural services. Completion is slated for late 2025. A subsequent phase of construction could create an 150,000-sf addition.
