The $388 million Surat Diamond Bourse opened in December of 2023 to provide a vibrant corporate destination for Gujarat’s diamond industry. Surpassing the Pentagon in size, the 7.1 million-sf complex includes nine 15-story towers linked by a central spine. Approximately 4,700 modular offices that can also serve as cutting and polishing workshops will support the endeavors of over 65,000 diamond professionals. Designed by Morphosis, the biophilic development features numerous light-filled atriums and nine 1.5-acre courtyards where traders can engage in informal interaction. This dynamic engine for economic growth also provides conference settings, exhibition spaces, training areas, retail venues, and dining and wellness amenities.

Sited on 35.5 acres in the Diamond Research and Mercantile City district, the sustainable facility integrates passive design strategies and has achieved a Platinum rating from the Indian Green Building Council. Prevailing winds are funneled through the central spine, augmented by a self-shading site plan and a radiant cooling system that circulates chilled water under the floors. Delivered by construction manager PMC and general contractor PSP, the project team included associate architect Space Kreators, MEP engineer AECOM, structural engineer JW Consultants, and cost consultant Gleeds.
