Clemson University broke ground in March of 2024 on a new home for the Department of Forestry and Environmental Conservation. Designed by Moseley Architects, the $68.3 million facility will prepare the next generation of agribusiness leaders for rewarding careers in natural resource management. The four-story, 85,000-sf building will provide teaching and research labs, classrooms, collaboration spaces, support areas, and offices for faculty and staff. Interior spaces will maintain a connection to the natural environment, complemented by a garden courtyard, an outdoor lab, and a surrounding landscape that serves as a tool for experiential learning.

Ajax Building Company is the general contractor for the sustainable development, which will showcase the use of wood products and finishes throughout the facility. Topped by a photovoltaic-ready roof, the structure will integrate suspended ceilings, glulam beams and columns, and floors made of cross-laminated timber (CLT). Upon completion in early 2026, the biophilic project is expected to achieve the Two Green Globes award from the Green Building Initiative.
