The University of Kentucky broke ground in March of 2024 on the $60 million Martin-Gatton Agricultural Sciences Building in Lexington. Designed by BHDP Architecture, the 66,000-sf facility will offer technology-enabled learning environments for the education of tomorrow’s agricultural leaders. The ground floor will feature 15 large, flexible classrooms that can easily adapt to different pedagogical modes, complemented by an adjacent café where students can gather and interact. The collaborative structure will house programs in natural resources and environmental science, agricultural and medical biotechnology, pre-veterinary advising, and equine studies. An outdoor plaza will establish a physical link to the nearby Beam Institute for Kentucky Spirits. Completion is expected in March of 2026.

Accommodating a significant increase in enrollment, the project is the first new facility for the Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture in over 35 years. The University of Kentucky is also planning to construct the $184 million Agriculture Research Building. The 190,000-sf structure will provide laboratories, offices, and a 250-seat auditorium when it opens in 2027.
