Idec Pharmaceuticals broke ground in October 2002 on its new five-building corporate headquarters and laboratory facility in San Diego's University Towne Center. San Diego-based Cisterra Partners is developer of the 42.6-acre project, with Hellmuth, Obata + Kassabaum of St. Louis as architect and New York-based Turner Construction as general contractor.  Phase one consists of two office buildings, two lab buildings and a common area building totalling 352,000 sf;  415,000 sf will be added in later phases. Initial employee occupancy is slated for summer of 2004.
