Northwest Missouri State University Develops Center of Excellence for Plant Biologics

MARYVILLE, MO. -

Northwest Missouri State University (NMSU) is developing the 140,000-sf Missouri Center of Excellence for Plant Biologics in Maryville, Mo. The $30-million on-campus facility will house industry tenants as well as academic researchers. The facility is comprised of two major centers, the Graduate Applied Research Center and the Plant Biologics Incubator.

The Graduate Applied Research Center will be comprised of classrooms and laboratories for the study of plant-made pharmaceuticals, nanotechnology, biomass and renewable energy technologies, allied applications of geographic information science, and specialized agriculture. The Plant Biologics Incubator will provide facilities including testing laboratories, greenhouses, protein extraction processing facilities, and a temperature controlled holding area. Ventria, currently housed in another building at NMSU, will be a tenant in the incubator.
