University of North Florida Opens Science & Engineering Building

JACKSONVILLE, FLA. -

The University of North Florida recently opened the 130,000-sf Science and Engineering Building on its main campus in Jacksonville, Fla. Programmed, planned and designed by Reynolds, Smith & Hills, this state-of-the-art facility provides laboratories, classrooms, offices, and demonstration lecture halls serving the College of Computing Sciences & Engineering and the College of Arts & Sciences. Specific design elements include:

• Teaching and research laboratories for chemistry; physics; astronomy; mechanical, civil, and electrical engineering; fluid mechanics; geotechnical and soil mechanics; hydrology; material testing/structural engineering; microprocessor; digital design; and power electronics
• Computer laboratories for computational research and computer aided design and manufacturing (CAD/CAM)
• Lecture rooms and classrooms for general and building construction management courses
• Faculty office suites
• 150-seat theatre-style lecture hall to facilitate natural science demonstrations and general lecture requirements
