SteelCorr Constructs Columbus Facility

COLUMBUS, MISS. -

SteelCorr, Inc.  will initiate construction of a new $650-million company headquarters and steel mill in Columbus, Miss., in June 2005. Sited on 1,400 acres next to the Golden Triangle Regional Airport, the plant will produce 1.5-million tons of flat-rolled steel annually and will employ 450. SteelCorr, formerly based in Birmingham, Ala., received a $25-million infrastructure grant from the state and a $12-million grant from Lowndes County towards the construction of the facility.
