BRYAN, TEXAS - Texas A&M University broke ground in April of 2008 on the $47.8 million Texas Institute of Preclinical Studies (TIPS) in the A&M Research Park in Bryan. The 112,000-sf biomedical and animal research facility will support development and commercialization of therapies for diseases including cancer, heart disease, and Alzheimer’s. Featuring a large animal hospital, the facility will accommodate animal research with a particular focus on naturally occurring animal models by enrolling pets with various diseases into clinical studies for animal and human therapeutics research. Located adjacent to the College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences, the GLP (Good Laboratory Practice) facility will include a core imaging center and incubator space. The multi-disciplinary education, training, and research facility is slated for completion in 2009.
