WATERBURY, CT. - Naugatuck Valley Community College in Waterbury has selected
Amenta/Emma Architects of Hartford, Ct., to design a new technology classroom building for academic and community use. The $31-million project, which is being administered by the State Department of Public Works, consists of a 100,000-sf building to replace the aging Founders Hall. Construction is scheduled to begin in fall of 2003 and be completed in 2005. New enhancements will include state-of-the-art classrooms and laboratories for technology and engineering programs, auto technology programs, hospitality management and culinary arts programs, as well as horticulture and physical education and fitness programs. The site for the new building was recently approved by the Connecticut Community Colleges Board of Trustees, paving the way for Amenta/Emma to begin the design process. Design approval is expected by the end of 2002.
