GRAND RAPIDS, MICH. - The Van Andel Institute is constructing a second research building on its Grand Rapids, Mich., campus. The $175-million expansion is comprised of a 240,000-sf, eight-story facility. The new building and the existing 160,000-sf tower on the site were designed by
Rafael Vinoly Architects of New York. The expansion will house research and administrative operations and enable neurological and translational research. The project will also accommodate the Van Andel Graduate School and
Michigan State University’s College of Human Medicine. The joint venture construction team is
Owen-Ames-Kimball Company of Grand Rapids and
The Hunt Construction Group. The laboratory design consultant for the project is
Research Facilities Design (RFD). Completion is slated for late 2009.
