BERKELEY, CALIF. -
The University of California, Berkeley will begin construction in July of 2008 on the $198.2 million Helios Energy Research Facility. The 85,536-sf lab and office building will include the BP-funded Energy Biosciences Institute and is slated for completion in October of 2011. Additionally, the $112.9 million Computational Research and Theory Facility will begin construction in January of 2009 and reach completion in May 2011. The 73,000-sf building will house the National Energy Research Scientific Computing (NERSC) Center, a project of the Department of Energy. The facilities will be located near Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory to promote multidisciplinary research.
