University of Central Florida Opens Health Center

ORLANDO, FLA. -

The University of Central Florida celebrated the grand opening of its new Health Center in Orlando in January of 2006. Skanska USA Building and the joint venture architectural team of Mateu/HuntonBrady were involved in the construction and design of the facility. The total value of the project is estimated to be $88-million. The project included the construction of a new 48,725-foot, three-story health center that functions as the basic medical service provider for students, faculty, and staff at the university.

The center provides basic exams, x-rays, blood work, and check-ups. The center also has a fully functional pharmacy, a women's clinic, numerous administrative offices, several meeting rooms, and various medical supply storage spaces. In addition to the new facility, the project includes the renovation of the existing 13,508-sf Student Health Center, which is located adjacent to the new facility and will house both the Counseling and the REACH (Health Education) departments.
