Biosite Plans Mira Mesa Headquarters

MIRA MESA, CALIF. -

San Diego-based Biosite is planning to construct a four-building, 350,000-sf corporate headquarters on 17.7 acres recently purchased in Mira Mesa, Calif. Biosite, a maker of rapid diagnostic products, plans to purchase an additional 8.4 acres by year-end 2003. The land, which can accommodate up to 800,000 sf, is in the 130.9 acre Fenton Technology Park. Biosite will relocate in the fourth quarter of 2004 from its nine Sorento Valley buildings where it occupies 190,000 sf. The company plans to expand its employee base from its current 700 up to 1,000 with occupancy of the new headquarters. Construction is expected to begin later in 2003.
