SAN FRANCISCO -
Biotech giant Genentech has begun preliminary work on a 125,000-sf office facility project, pending approval by the South San Francisco city council late this summer . Designed by Los Angeles-based Johnson Fain Partners and built by Hathaway Dinwiddie of San Francisco, the new office will replace a warehouse building and parking structure and will house administrative services. Another five-story, 125,000-sf office complex is also scheduled for construction this year. Additionally, ground was broken on April 7 on a 287,000-sf, $90-million lab expansion that will double Genentech's R&D space. Completion is expected by 2003.
