Applied Biosystems Relocates Research to Pleasanton

Published July 2003

PLEASANTON, CALIF. -

Applied Biosystems is relocating its Foster City, Calif., operations to its new campus in Pleasanton, Calif. A 96,400-sf facility will house the company’s genomic assays research business. The shell of a 143,800-sf facility has been constructed, but tenant improvements will not be made until additional space is needed.

The master plan for the campus includes 960,000 sf of office, research, and manufacturing space in seven buildings; five buildings are included in the first phase. The project broke ground in January 2002 with a goal of minimizing negative environmental impact. Approximately 95 percent of demolition debris was recycled and used in construction. Recycled tires were used as flooring in the employee break rooms, and old blue jeans were used to help insulate the building.
