Gemini Science Inc. (GSI) and La Jolla Institute for Allergy & Immunology (LIAI) completed a new 145,000-sf collaborative research facility in La Jolla, Calif., in July of 2006. Located in the UC San Diego Science Research Park, the facility was designed by Delawie Wilkes Rodrigues Barker and built by DPR Construction. Replacing the existing joint research facility, the new building includes 14 independent research laboratory units and 77,000 sf of offices and technology space for scientists, staff, and administrative personnel. The facility includes a 29,000-sf basement garage, a three-story atrium, a 165-seat seminar room, a bistro, and library and conference rooms. GSI is a subsidiary the Japanese beverage group Kirin Brewery Co.
