Oklahoma State University broke ground in July of 2007 on the 124,000-sf Interdisciplinary Science Research Building in Stillwater, Okla. Designed by Cannon Design, the $70 million project represents the first of three phases within the planned Technology and Research zone of the campus, aimed at enhancing the university's research, teaching, and outreach efforts. The new three-story plus basement facility will connect to an existing 1960s science building on the campus and will feature a flexible design that accommodates a variety of research functions including biodiversity, biophysics, photonics, synthetic chemistry and advanced materials.

The labs will be grouped within the core of the building, with the building’s circulation corridor and teaming areas positioned around the perimeter. Expansive windows will optimize natural light throughout the space. Cannon Design is providing programming, architectural design, and mechanical/electrical design, working in association with Rees Associates of Oklahoma City. The building is scheduled to be complete in 2010. Cannon Design has also been selected to design approximately $5 million in renovations to adjacent science facilities, and will complete the work simultaneously.
