SAN JOSE, CALIF. - Tesla Motors will begin construction in summer of 2009 on a $250 million headquarters and manufacturing campus in San Jose, Calif. Consolidating the electric car maker’s existing Santa Clara operations, the project will be built to meet LEED Gold certification for sustainable design. The campus will house administrative offices, research and product development labs, and manufacturing facilities for Tesla’s zero-emission electric luxury sedan. Production will begin at the site in late 2010.
