Naval Facilities Engineering Command Plans Dahlgren Facility

DAHLGREN, VA. -

The Naval Facilities Engineering Command Washington has awarded Skanska USA Building a design/build contract for the new Naval Network and Space Operations Command Center at the Dahlgren Naval Surface Warfare Center in Virginia. The construction value is $17 million. The project will include a new 75,000-sf building that will be linked to the existing Building 1700. Also included are 15,000 sf of renovations, site improvements, and a 550-space parking lot. The facility will be used to operate and maintain the Navy's space and global telecommunications systems and services for promoting innovative technology solutions. Design and construction will meet LEEDTM  certified standards. Skanska's design partner is Kling of Washington, D.C. The project is expected to be completed in March 2006.
