NIH Creates Regional Centers for Influenza Research

BETHESDA, MD. -

The National Institutes of Health National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases is creating six Regional Centers for Excellence for Influenza Research and Surveillance. Each center will receive $23 million per year for the next seven years to support influenza research. The participating institutions are Emory University School of Medicine, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, the University of California at Los Angeles, the University of Minnesota, Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York, and the University of Rochester in New York. The University of Georgia is also receiving a $7.4 million annual subcontract to support collaborative research with the Emory University center.
