HAYWARD, CALIF. - Kaiser Permanente is planning to construct a $600-million replacement hospital on 63 acres in Hayward, Calif. The 300-bed facility will house an emergency department, inpatient care, a medical office building, and an outpatient clinic. The hospital is slated for completion in 2012 in order to meet a state-mandated deadline for seismic rebuilding by January of 2013. The architects for the project are Ellerbe Beckett of Kansas City and Hawley Peterson & Snyder of Mountain View, Calif.
