ATLANTA - July 18, 2001 -- American Community Network (www.acn.net), the nation's leading Web site for economic development data on U.S. communities, today announced the launch of a new properties database in partnership with the General Services Administration of the U.S. Government. The new database lists all GSA owned and leased properties including location, lease expiration, square footage, and contact information. The GSA selected ACN late last year to develop a new database after months of study into the best way to enhance their Web-marketing efforts to reach site selection decision makers involved in the expansion/relocation process, including corporate executives, commercial realtors, and site consultants. The ACN site is linked to the www.gsa.gov and www.firstgov.com sites.
ACN has been recognized as the national leader since its launch in 1996 and has pioneered new decision support resources for executives throughout the world. Chuck Branch, ACN President, states, "We are delighted to bring our technology and expertise to the U.S. Government and GSA to complement the fine work of that very important organization. We are confident that our new partnership will enhance GSA's ability to market their properties on the Web and also to provide members of Congress with an accurate, timely listing of the GSA properties in each state. We look forward to bringing our Web technology and data to other government operations, as we have in the private sector."
Brian Polly, GSA's Acting Assistant Commissioner for Portfolio Management comments, "Listing properties and leases online enables us to provide instant information to GSA's customer agencies, Members of Congress, the general public, and real estate professionals. I am pleased with the strategic partner contract with the American Community Network (www.acn.net) that enables us to display our properties on the Internet. It is essential that we continue to bring private sector know-how in the Internet arena to support GSA's important landlord mission for the U.S. Government." F. Joseph Moravec, GSA's Commissioner of the Public Buildings Service, says, "Making our properties available electronically furthers the goal of the administration and Congress to use leading-edge technology to improve government efficiency. In fact, Congress created GSA in 1949 to improve government efficiency."
The GSA data base may be reached by accessing ACN (www.acn.net) and clicking the GSA area of the site.
