New ARCHIBUS/FM Web Central(R) 14 Released Web-Based Applications Offer Personalized Interfaces for Each Site and User
Boston, Mass.--June 22, 2004--ARCHIBUS Inc.—developer of the # 1 facilities and infrastructure management solution in the world—announces the release of the new FM Web Central 14. This J2EE™-based Web solution brings the familiarity of the Internet to popular ARCHIBUS/FM facilities and infrastructure management activities. Meanwhile, it centralizes process management and user rights to create streamlined, personalized interfaces for each site and user. As a result, facility and infrastructure managers can easily coordinate all levels of the enterprise, from the operations level to the decision-making level.
Familiar Web Interface Encourages Self-Service
The new FM Web Central 14 adds significant functionality to the ColdFusion®-based FM Web Central product that ARCHIBUS released in 1995.
With FM Web Central 14, authorized users can access their facilities and infrastructure management data via the Web in a familiar, user-friendly manner. This extends the accessibility of data while practically eliminating the learning curve for new users. Each user's interface can be personalized to show only the activities for which they are responsible. Even casual users can log on to ARCHIBUS/FM and perform common facilities-related tasks. Such self-service options help reduce the turnaround time on projects and increase productivity.
Coordinated Information Among Sites
As organizations expand their operations, FM Web Central 14 lets authorized users collect, edit, and monitor project and infrastructure data from anywhere in the world. An enhanced Virtual Private ARCHIBUS feature lets users develop separate, secure data partitions for each building, site, or department while centrally managing aggregate data, security, and navigation for all users, whether they work in a Web, Windows, or CAD environment. This helps develop an accurate, up-to-date database of record on the statuses of an organization's people, places, processes, and physical assets.
"The new ARCHIBUS/FM Web Central 14 organizes technology around the way organizations do business," says Steve Segarra, chief technical officer at ARCHIBUS. "The program expresses management initiatives clearly in terms of activities that represent individual business goals, and the workflows that achieve them." Upon log-in, users see a directed menu of tasks that helps them quickly fulfill their roles in the workflow. Role-based security keeps everyone's data securely partitioned, while centralized roll-ups, reports, and dashboards let managers flag exceptions, monitor progress, and aggregate results.
Reduced IT Costs and Resource Requirements
This Web-based implementation also eliminates the time and effort required to install software on multiple desktops. Plus, ARCHIBUS/FM Web Central 14 complies with the widely-accepted J2EE (Java 2 Platform Enterprise Edition) Web development standards, a scalable platform that will provide interoperability of ARCHIBUS/FM with existing and future J2EE-compliant implementations.
Availability
FM Web Central 14 (English) is now available to both new and existing users. Current users who participate in the ARCHIBUS Annual Software Subscription program receive the enhancements upon request, with no additional charge. End-users with previous versions of ARCHIBUS/FM can upgrade for a fee. The upgrade includes documentation in both hard and electronic copies. FM Web Central 14 is initially available in English only; localized versions of the new software will be rolled out beginning in the 1st Quarter of 2005.
