Babson College Selects Tsoi/Kobus & Associates to Design and Build Its New Undergraduate Program Building
August 9, 2000 (CAMBRIDGE, MA) - Babson College has selected Tsoi/Kobus & Associates (TK&A) to design its new 30,000 square foot Undergraduate Program Building in Babson Park, MA.
This structure, scheduled for completion in September 2002, will be located at the heart of the campus and is planned to visually connect with the surrounding campus buildings. It will serve as a showcase for Babson's undergraduate curriculum and student experience. Its architectural program will synthesize the college's admissions, undergraduate administration, academic teaching spaces, and student business development program.
The interior will be arranged around a central three-story atrium, with space for interaction between the faculty, staff, and students. Highlighted spaces include interactive classrooms and small-group meeting rooms, Honors, Assessment Center, Undergraduate Admissions Center, Undergraduate Program Office, and a Student Business Development Center. This last item puts the college in company with other forward-looking teaching institutions, nurturing the students' entrepreneurial aspirations by providing incubator labs and business hatchery and support space.
TK&A was founded in 1983. Since then, the firm has grown from six employees to its current staff of 105 architects, interior designers, and planners. The firm specializes in health care, commercial, science and technology, and academic facilities, as well as projects that involve complex siting, permitting, operational, budgetary, and schedule challenges. In 1997, TK&A was named by Architectural Record magazine as one of the country's "Best Managed Firms."
