ProTeus II Mobile Handheld Maintenance Software Allow Users to View Equipment Histories and Start New Work Orders in the Field
December 4, 2001--MEQUON, Wis.-- ProTeus II Mobile, the PDA interface for Eagle Technology's ProTeus II Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), is the first handheld maintenance software application to store recent repair histories on the PDA and to allow technicians to create new work orders in the field.
ProTeus II Mobile works on any handheld PDA running the Palm Operating System (Palm-OS) version 3.5 or higher. This gives customers the flexibility to choose handheld devices from many popular providers including Palm, Motorola, Handspring, and Symbol. The Palm-OS accounts for approximately 75 percent of the handheld market, and is the preferred standard for industry and facilities.
The advanced features give maintenance technicians unprecedented access to equipment information and improve priority response to equipment problems. Access to repair histories helps techs make accurate decisions when troubleshooting or repairing equipment. The ability to create new work orders in the field contributes to fast response and accurate record keeping when problems are discovered during inspections or routine preventive maintenance activities.
ProTeus II Mobile excels at paperless work order processing. Maintenance staff can download daily assignments to their personal handhelds, and then check off tasks, record spare parts usage, and complete work orders, returning at the end of the day to upload their information to the ProTeus II System. ProTeus II Mobile also supports barcode scanning for PDAs with built-in scanners or scanning attachments.
Maintenance departments with ProTeus II Mobile will notice substantial improvements in maintenance scheduling and reduced data entry and paperwork requirements. These advances can give maintenance technicians up to an hour of extra "wrench time" per day, greatly improving department productivity.
Eagle developed ProTeus II Mobile in conjunction with epoint Technologies of Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
The ProTeus II CMMS was released in early 2001 and is one of the most advanced maintenance software systems on the market. It is powered by Eagle's CS2 Database Technology, which allows operating speeds three to five times faster than any competitive CMMS. Advanced features allow maintenance departments to track inventory in multiple stockrooms and manage multiple sites, and also offers an interface to most corporate ERP and accounting software.
epoint Technologies is a recognized leader in the design and implementation of mobile business solutions and a top designer of Palm Computing based applications. The company was founded in 1984 and has 15 years experience with facility management systems. For the past three years, epoint has worked exclusively with Palm-OS application development.
Eagle Technology has provided quality CMMS/EAM solutions since 1986 and now ranks among the top five maintenance software suppliers in the world. The company's systems are available in 30 countries and in a growing number of languages. More than 3000 customers, including many Fortune 500 companies, rely on Eagle for their maintenance management needs.
