BuilderDepot Home Improvement Center Opens For Business
SAN DIEGO - Aug. 13, 2001 -- BuilderDepot announced today that its Home Improvement Center www.builderdepot.com is now open for business serving the U.S. and Canada.
"We are excited to be able to serve the industry with our new concept in merchandising. The store is operational and taking orders, and we continue to add new products as more manufacturers learn about the store and our business model" says Zak Zakhariya, chief executive officer of BuilderDepot.
The store operates on the established and proven model but at the speed of the Internet. Orders received by BuilderDepot are electronically transmitted to the manufacturers, who are paid in advance, and are then dispatched to their distribution network for fulfillment. The manufacturers also have the option to ship to the customers directly. BuilderDepot does not charge the manufacturers setup fees, or any ongoing fees, as the service is commission-based.
Manufacturers partnering with BuilderDepot.com to sell their products will maximize the utilization of their distribution network, eliminate numerous expenses, coupled with total control over their product display choices, pricing, shipping, and even liquidating products.
"Shortly after we put up the BuilderDepot links on our Web site we had sales, even before the August 13th opening! Zak and the rest of the crew have really taken the pain out of creating a shopping cart, it is what they do best and we were happy to let someone else take control. This is the NEW dot-com paradigm, no up front expense, a lot of value and RESULTS!" says Reid C. Sellgren, vice president at ClearMirror.
"The concept of BuilderDepot looks very promising to increase product sales. It is an excellent way for our company to expose our products to a large segment of customers," says Donna-Marie president of ACT Inc. Metlund Systems
"We are similar to The Home Depot, ACE Hardware, or Lowe's but we plan to offer a larger selection of products and deliver products to the project site. We leverage the distribution network of our partners so their dealers and distributors remain in the loop, making more money" added Zakhariya.
"I will certainly shop your store in the future because of the prompt attention I received. One of the divisions under my charge is customer service. They will do well to take care of the customer as well as you did," says Gus Hergert.
