CIBA Vision Chooses UNICCO to Provide Integrated Facilities Services Services to feature advanced maintenance management and Web-based reporting
DULUTH, Ga.--Feb. 10, 2004--CIBA Vision has awarded a contract to UNICCO® Service Company, one of North America's largest integrated facilities services outsourcing companies, to provide integrated facilities services for CIBA Vision at its worldwide headquarters in Duluth. The contract includes maintenance of all building systems, including mechanical, electrical, and plumbing, as well as managing subcontractors for landscaping and pest control.
The 790,000-sf four-building campus houses CIBA Vision's corporate headquarters, research & development, manufacturing and distribution center. "This is the operations center for CIBA Vision that requires a best practices approach," commented Larry Goodpasture, UNICCO vice president of business development. "In this case, facilities services is an extension of the critical environment management, research and production functions of the company."
UNICCO is applying the latest technologies to manage the maintenance, repair, and reporting processes. The system begins with the MAXIMO computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) from MRO Software. This enables UNICCO to plan and schedule preventive maintenance (PM) based on established guidelines, track labor hours against specific equipment, and manage other metrics. It also manages work ticket status and reporting.
The CMMS system will be complemented by an online, Web-based reporting system that will enable both UNICCO and CIBA Vision management and staff to monitor specific jobs and access both summary and ad hoc reports.
"We were attracted by the way UNICCO applies technology to facilities management and reporting," says Pete Reynolds, head of facility operations. "By better managing PM and improving our reporting systems, we expect to save money while improving efficiencies and uptime."
