LOS ALAMOS, NM - The University of California has awarded Parsons Brinckerhoff (PB) a contract to provide construction management oversight services for the expansion of facilities at Los Alamos National Laboratory. Under the contract, PB will oversee the design and construction of general and specific-purpose facilities at Los Alamos on a task order basis. Services will include design review, project controls monitoring, cost estimating, general inspections, specialty inspections, security review, administrative support, and project close-out.
The first project being undertaken involves reconstruction of a fire-safe storage building, intended to replace the existing flammable storage structures and to remediate future fire hazards by the construction of a fire-resistant facility. PB will be responsible for overseeing the activities of a design-build contractor that has been engaged to design and construct the new facility. Other ongoing work involves construction management services for a new office building to house the Materials Science and Technology Division, construction management services related to development of a new parking garage, and cost estimating for the National Security Sciences Building.
Parsons Brinckerhoff provides program management, construction management, construction engineering and inspection, and specialized construction consulting services for large-scale infrastructure projects and facilities. Ranked in the top three construction management firms by Engineering News-Record, Parsons Brinckerhoff employs 9,000 professionals and support staff in more than 200 offices worldwide.
