Quebec Cartier Mining Company Selects Ivara's Software and Services
Burlington, Ontario - July 6, 2000 - Ivara Corporation, a supplier of leading edge Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) software, Expert Maintenance (EXP) software and Equipment Reliability Strategy (ERS) methodology, announces that Quebec Cartier Mining Company (QCM), has selected Ivara's methodology and software to help improve its equipment reliability and reduce its overall operating costs.
Quebec Cartier Mining Company is one of Canada's largest iron ore producers. With operations in Mont- Wright and Port-Cartier, Québec, its annual nominal production capacity is 18,000,000 metric tons of iron ore concentrate, of which about 9,000,000 metric tons are processed in pellet form. Some 2,200 people are employed at the operations.
"We recognize that the key to reducing our maintenance costs and improving equipment reliability is to implement a proven equipment reliability program. We saw first hand how Ivara.ERS reduced maintenance costs and improved equipment reliability at a large steel mill," said Michel Privé, Manager Maintenance Systems at QCM. "And we were impressed with Ivara's philosophy to do technology transfer, which is to teach us to implement the methodology ourselves."
"Ivara's software includes the comprehensive functionality our users are accustomed to and the ability to define the software to meet our unique requirements," said Alain Doyle, Manager Information Technology at QCM. "We are well into implementing the maintenance improvement program and the software with Ivara and we are very pleased with the progress so far."
Ivara is in the business of providing Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) systems, Expert Maintenance Program (EXP) and maintenance consulting and training services specifically designed to speed up customers' time to benefit. Ivara is licensed by Aladon to provide Reliability-Centered Maintenance 2 (RCM2) consulting.
"We were able to prove to QCM that we have the software and methodology to meet their very aggressive time schedule." said Bill Shaw, President of Ivara Corporation.
Ivara.ERS is a proven methodology that improves the reliability of equipment. Some of the steps in the methodology include RCM analysis, Predictive Maintenance Needs Assessment, Criticality Analysis and Equipment Hierarchy Development. Ivara.EAM reduces maintenance costs by improving the efficiency of maintenance processes such as work order planning and scheduling, MRO inventory and purchasing. Ivara.EXP collects equipment condition values, diagnoses the overall condition of the equipment and proactively identifies the maintenance required to prevent an equipment failure. This identification of the right maintenance work to do at the right time improves the effectiveness of maintenance, which improves equipment reliability and operating reduces costs.
