IEP Selects Pliant Technologies to Implement AI-Based Utility Data Management Platform
April 29, 2003 ... Cedar Rapids, IA ... Innovative Energy Partners (IEP) announced they have selected Pliant Technologies (Pliant) to implement Pliant's patented artificial intelligence (AI) based intelligent document recognition system, SourceWare(tm) Intelligent Document Recognition (IDR), to assist in the retrieval and analysis of utility billing information.
Through the use of SourceWare(tm) IDR, IEP will be able to directly retrieve virtually any information from scanned images of client utility bills and transfer this data directly to its Energy Partnership Plus(tm) database substantially reducing manual data entry requirements while increasing the accuracy of data captured and energy analysis capabilities. Through the use of Pliant's SourceWare(tm) IDR, IEP will be able to more efficiently and effectively process utility bills which provide essential information to IEP in identifying and evaluating enhanced energy solutions for its clients.
Once information gets to the Energy Partnership Plus(tm) database, IEP is able to quickly target those opportunities providing the greatest potential for reducing overall energy costs. By reducing the time and effort necessary to transfer utility billing information to useable form, IEP is able to provide enhanced energy value and savings quicker and with fewer people. IEP's focus on utilizing energy data to target opportunities in advance, rather than a more traditional shotgun approach to corporate-wide tariff reviews and energy audit initiatives, allows IEP to deliver better results in a more timely fashion on an ongoing basis.
"By utilizing Pliant's SourceWare(tm) IDR to automate the data capture process", says Rick Sievertsen, IEP founder and president, "IEP can expedite its analysis of client energy opportunities and deliver results sooner and more cost effectively than is possible with a traditional manual data entry system."
"We are excited by the opportunity our relationship with IEP provides to further advance IEP's business and the reach of Pliant's software to new business segments", says Paul Odom, Pliant founder and chief technology officer.
IEP will be the first company to utilize AI and SourceWare(tm) IDR for utility bill data capture and analysis.
