Alpha Software Express Announces Version 1.1 of CAD Object Manager Java Software Product for General Design Work and Management of Drawings
SAN RAFAEL, Calif. - Jan. 18, 2002 -- Alpha Software Express, a supplier of OpenVMS and Java-based software, announced today the next generation of its flagship product introduced last August.
CAD Object Manager provides an inexpensive means to create and manage architectural and engineering designs of all types. Its unique Java implementation allows it to run on virtually any platform--e.g. Windows 95/98/NT/XP, Linux, Mac OS, OpenVMS, etc. It also provides document management functions, like drawing check-out and check-in, as well as, powerful user specific privilege features.
Version 1.1 of the product builds on the existing model of discrete object management and security by adding many new and improved features. Most prominent of those is the new object editing menu. It provides flip, rotation, color modification, re-sizing, reshaping, and special attribute changes on any existing object. It also allows ownership and privilege modifications for objects using the L1 and L2 security models.
Other new features include:
-- Expanded grid types, labeling and scale-based grid gap selections -- Tape measure with actual scaled value, or pixel, readout -- Selectable top and bottom toolbar viewing -- Selectable double buffer option -- New loose selection algorithm option -- New color box options to make color selection more flexible -- Updated documentation with three new demonstration drawings.
The purchase price of Version 1.1 has been significantly reduced and now ranges from only $20 to $75 per user license, depending on options selected. Interested users can downloaded a FREE 60 day evaluation copy at: http://alphase.com/aex/OrderViaTia.html.
Don Sykes, the company's principal engineer says: "The herculean task of creating the generalized design tool is done. Now we can turn to the relatively easier task of incorporating industry specific options as they become clear. Of course we're still continuing our schedule of improving the core engine too." He adds, "We're confident that customers will begin to see the value of this platform independent, generalized approach to design."
