MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - June 20, 2002 - Honeywell (NYSE:HON) Automation & Control Solutions today announced that its Service business unit has released the latest version of its industry-leading Enterprise Buildings Integrator™ (EBI) solution. EBI is a technology platform that integrates all core building systems and subsystems, including security, digital video surveillance, access control, life safety, and heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC). It provides a single point of access to all information and resources.
EBI's newest feature is an easy-to-use, Web-based user interface that allows access through any workstation equipped with Microsoft's Internet Explorer Web browser. Using this interface, you can monitor and control one or more buildings through an on-site computer or a computer at a remote location. The interface's Web-style menus, toolbars and icons allow for intuitive navigation and fast access to information, which reduces the time and cost required to train system operators.
EBI also offers a Web-based display-building package that allows you to create custom screens for different locations that enable tenants to monitor and control their own temperature, climate and lighting. Employees or tenants can link to the Internet or their corporate intranet to provide EBI operators with relevant information, such as forecasted temperatures. Using this information the operators can tailor the facility's systems accordingly, which saves money and increases comfort.
Other new features include:
• Integration of live video surveillance into custom displays using Honeywell's Digital Video Manager™ (DVM) system. With DVM, you can monitor several locations within a facility or multiple facilities on a single screen. You can also create powerful displays that show floor plans and system data alongside digital video images improving the ability to confirm conditions visually and respond appropriately.
• Advanced security control through fully integrated support of biometric access control devices. Unique biometric templates are stored centrally resulting in more efficient management of access control across one or more sites and greater security.
• Asset Locator applies the latest technology in infrared and radio frequency tagging, enabling you to locate and track valuable assets throughout the facility and locate key personnel.
• Integrated Maintenance Manager retrieves data from field devices to determine when equipment requires maintenance. It generates a work order for the required maintenance when certain conditions are met. You can configure the system to track selected variables, such as run hours or readings on performance metrics that fall outside a preset range.
"Honeywell has implemented EBI at more than 1,500 locations worldwide including commercial buildings, data centers, airports, government and defense agencies, pharmaceutical plants and healthcare facilities," says Simon James, marketing leader of Building Automation at Honeywell. "The enhancements included in this Web-based version of our technology platform make it even easier for our customers to reduce operating costs and improve the safety and security of their facilities"
