The building, which combines instructional, administrative and departmental research functions, is constructed adjacent to the existing Medical School complex. The laboratory facility includes state-of-the-art research laboratories, support areas and classroom. The concept of a generic laboratory facility allows maximum flexibility and the assignment of space based on areas of research?not on a departmental basis.
In addition to the research laboratories, the Building also includes an animal surgery suite. This area houses an operating room, a surgeon's prep room, an animal prep room, a recovery room, a support room and an internal circulation system that connects all spaces in the suite to each other.
