 AKT Division
The facility is comprised of three buildings totaling 170,000 sf of R&D, manufacturing, testing, office and shipping/receiving space. Since 1997, the company has completed more than 80 projects campus-wide, exceeding $5,000,000 in construction cost. The evolution of the FPD industry has imposed significant architectural alterations on AKT’s facility in order to accommodate the continuously increasing size of the flat panel display, and as a consequence, the increase in its equipment size. Upgrade of the mechanical, electrical, and process systems has been required to support these changes. The diversity of projects with AKT spans a broad spectrum and includes numerous space alterations and process equipment installations such as a 60K Laser Scribe, a 60K Solar Test Stand, and a 90K CVD Test Stand. Among other projects, is the addition of a server room, roof replacement, Process Cooling Water (PCW) and Clean, Dry Air (CDA) systems upgrade, and alterations to its process gas delivery, exhaust and waste water treatment systems.

About the Reported Cost Figures
The cost figures reported are supplied by the firms that submitted these projects for publication, which in most cases are the designers or builders. Whereas these sources are intimately familiar with their projects, they may not be fully aware of the owners' finally-realized and recorded costs. In some cases, costs are truly and completely accounted for, and in others they represent a near approximation of the final costs. Costs have not been adjusted for year of construction, nor has any attempt been made to make regional cost adjustments.

Further, costs are not comparable on any kind of detailed standard costing model. Hence, it is possible for the cost of one building to include a steam boiler, while the cost of a comparable building might not include the boiler, if steam is being supplied from an already existing campus grid. Or, in another case, a building might include excess boiler capacity to supply steam to another building. Some submittals include fees or unusual site improvements as part of the construction costs, which others do not.
