Detroit Medical Center Built in 1984, Huron Valley-Sinai Hospital outgrew its surgical department due to increasing volume as well as a shift from inpatient to outpatient surgeries. Similarly, the original obstetrics wing, designed to accommodate less than 1,000 births per year, was handling nearly twice that amount. Huron Valley-Sinai Hospital's 158,000-sf expansion and renovation in Milford, Mich., adds a 30,000-sf regional ambulatory care center, a 35,000-sf Women's Center, and a 29,000-sf replacement operating room suite capable of handling a large volume of outpatient surgeries.
