Walter Reed Army Institute of Research
Officially dedicated in October 1999 after more than four years of construction, the new Walter Reed Army Institute of Research/Naval Medical Research Center (WRAIR/MNRC) in Forest Glen, Md., replaces scattered buildings that housed Army and Navy researchers on the campuses of Walter Reed Army Medical Center--in the original WRAIR building--and the National Naval Medical Center in what used to be the Naval Medical Research Institute and various rented locations in the Washington area. Army and Navy scientists work side-by-side in the new facility.
