New Facility Allows School to "Change the Way Teaching is Done"
The new 154,000-sf home of the University of Maryland's School of Nursing brings several new learning opportunities to the 112-year-old Baltimore institution. On the school's wish list were both tangible and intangible features, from the addition of research space and the introduction of new teaching technology to increased interaction among faculty and students.

E.I. DuPont de Nemours
In an effort to consolidate all of DuPont's Crop Protection research and development operations into one location, the company recently completed Building S315 at its Stine-Haskell Research Center (SHRC) in Newark, Del. This $61.7-million facility is the new home for the Process and Formulation Development Organization of DuPont. Long-term benefits include ample laboratory space to accommodate business growth, reduced annual operating expenses, and laboratory environments that support new technologies, researcher innovations, interactions, safe research environments, and efficient operations. Another benefit allows space previously occupied by Crop Protection to be made available to other growing DuPont businesses.

High-Tech Elements Enhance Both Teaching and Learning
Built with the goal of becoming the "most technologically advanced facility for legal education in the country," David J. Sargent Hall, Suffolk University's new 293,000-sf law school, shows all signs of living up to this ambitious mission.

Insight, Not Oversight, is Priority
Recognizing the commercial nature of activities like facilities management and information technology, the U.S. Air Force's Air Education and Training Command (AETC) is in the midst of a sweeping program to competitively source support functions that fall outside its core competencies.
